Intuitive Infant Care

A Holistic Approach to Parenting Rooted in Our Biology as Humans

A five-week course for parents and caretakers of infants to learn how to care for baby in alignment with our physiology.

Do you wonder how to know what is “best” for your baby?

Are you worried about getting everything done and taking care of your infant?

Do you want to feel confident in your decisions and prepared for the day to day tasks of infant care while having space to enjoy this precious time?

Parenting is challenging.

And trying to trust your gut when everyone is throwing conflicting opinions and “expert” advice at you can feel overwhelming.

In this time we are living in a fractured culture; isolated and without our proverbial village.

This is a family centered approach to parenting; beyond the pressures of society and into a purposeful, mindful way of being as a family.

Whether this is your first or fifth child, you are transitioning to a new family dynamic.

I have spent the past six years studying different parenting theories and diving into the research to get to the root of what truths apply to our design as humans and have stood the test of time; transcending the latest parenting fads and advice that is suited to our society’s expectations over our infants’ wiring.

Together we will discuss theories, evidence, and practical approaches to day-to-day tasks and the big picture of parenting.

We will gain a broad understanding of parenting instead of applying bandaid solutions to the problems that can spring up but are all related.

In my decade of experience working as a nurse, I have seen firsthand that what you are most prepared for is not what you need support for.

What happened with your first baby probably won’t happen with your second baby- you have an entirely different birth, a new human in front of you, each with their own unique set of strengths and challenges. Yet, by looking at our biology, we can take some of the guesswork out of— and not feel as blindsided by — the situations that may arise.

Thank you for the work you are doing raising the next generation.

Together we will:

  • Learn why the early days (and years) matter so much and how we are laying the foundation for an entire lifetime.

  • Create a resource list and plan to support yourself and your family.

  • Understand how to help your baby feel loved, safe, and like they belong here.

  • Learn how to get better sleep with a newborn.

  • Learn how to get breastfeeding off to an optimal start.

  • Learn about breastfeeding beyond nutrition.

  • Learn how to babywear and why you might want to.

  • Learn about infant’s toileting needs beyond a diaper.

  • Be in a community with like-minded parents who are in the trenches of parenthood with you.

This course is for you if:

  • You are expecting, parenting, or caretaking an infant.

  • You want to learn about the mother as baby’s first environment.

  • You want truly informed choices about the day-to-day tasks of parenting.

  • You understand that the information presented is not a moral judgment on parenting choices.

  • You agree to uphold a safe space and compassion for yourself and others to share our parenting journeys.

This course is likely not for you if:

  • You believe that infants are unintelligent beings incapable of communication.

  • You believe that others know better about your child than you do.

  • You believe that infants need to learn to be independent.

Scholarship application is available here.

This is not a rigid “parenting style”- but it is a framework we can apply to parenting.

We will learn baby’s and parents’ needs vs. society’s needs and see where we can find a middle ground.

This is not a judgement on parenting styles or feeding choices.

This is an open, honest look at what our needs as parents are and what decisions and choices are made for the sake of society’s needs vs. our own.

Meet your teacher

Alyssa Mancini, RN, BSN, CLC

I am a mama to a hilarious five-year-old with a decade of experience in healthcare as a registered nurse. After becoming a mother I realized that the health of mothers is foundational to the health of the planet.

Over the past six years, I have used my experience as a critical care nurse and research nurse to dive deep into the current research and traditional wisdom on optimizing pregnancy, postpartum, and childcare in alignment with our biology as humans.

For three years, I have supported mothers and families as a holistic postpartum care provider and certified lactation consultant.

I value family, thriving health, true informed consent, and the natural world. I believe if we get still and listen to our deep inner knowing it will not lead us astray. As a new mother, so much conflicting information is thrown at us. I am honored to support you in standing in your authority and connecting to your intuition while providing you with the resources and information rooted in our design as humans and supported by modern science to inform this.
